The use of plastics by
the packaging industry has grown multifold over the years.
This has led to the over all growth of plastic consumption
globally. India is expected to be the third largest consumer
of plastic by the year 2010 behind US and China. Though
plastic was a revolutionary discovery it also brought
along with it serious environmental hazards. For the past
few years NGO's globally have been lobbying with governments
to ban the use of these material, as it isn't biodegradable. |
| This has
led to millions of dollars being spent on research for
plastic recycling. |
Clean Pet India / Clean Plast are one such organization
who have taken upon themselves to get rid of one such menace
in the plastic family which is PET (Polyethylene Terephythalate)
bottles.
The uses of PET bottles (e.g. Mineral
water, Soft brinks, Syrups, Jars) have increased over the
years by leaps and bounds and will continue to do so in the
future. Since these bottles aren't bio degradable, they cause
a serious Environmental hazard.
Clean Pet India / Clean Plast have set up Collections Centers all over India where
they collect these bottles and make sure that they are put
in the right Recycle channel.
